What you need to do to properly maintain your water garden.

You need to prepare your water garden for each season.

Preparing for spring.

• Check the pond over for any problems, like leaks and falling rocks.
• Check out the pump and filter to make sure that they are running correctly and clean them.
• Check on the fish and the plants.
• Fix any problems that occured over winter.

Preparing for summer.

• Check out the fish and plants weekly to catch any problems before they start.
• Get any debris out of the pond as you find it.
• Summer is the easiest time for maintenance of a water garden pond.

Preparing for winter.

• Clean all of the crude out of your pond. This mainly involves removing any leaves off the bottom of the pond
• Clean up the area around the pond. Remove any debris that can blow into the pond.
• Put a net over the pond to catch any leaves that could fall into the pond from the surrounding trees.
• Plan for any ice development. Add a heater to the pond or something to keep the ice from freezing over the pond.
• Stop feeding the fish when the water starts to get cold.
